The other problem that I have with MTV’s “My Life As Liz,” while it attempts to present its self as real teens in real situations, our protagonist, Liz, much like LeBron James is an asshole. A judgmental jerk with a holier than thou attitude. ‘Oh, that popular girl just said all that emotionally deep stuff so I would like her and she won’t say hi to me,’….Did Liz ever think that maybe the blonde popular girl who was in a large group of people did not see Liz or hear her faint hello? Teens are fucking loud and it’s often very difficult to carry on a conversation in the same room as them. Fuck, have you ever been in a movie theater when a group of teens come running in? It’s like ten jets taking off at the same time while Kerry King of Slayer rips through an ear splitting guitar solo with an amp at eleven. So, twee Liz or at least the writers for twee Liz should’ve had one of her fat buddies say, “Maybe she couldn’t hear over the chaotic stomping and shouting we do on a regular basis.”
Then twee Liz bemoans the fact that everybody laughs and looks at her….well, if somebody had a camera crew following every move at my high school, yes, I would point and laugh in a humble attempt to get on “the TV”. She or at least the character of Liz gets upset because other people judge her without getting to know her, but she’s the most fucking judgmental of all. Nobody likes me because I bought everything from the Urban Outfitters catalog.
I thought that I would be above watching shows because I strongly dislike them, but I fear that “My Life As Liz” has become the show that I have to watch because it just drives me so insane.
