I didn’t like it.
I love weird movies that just float and drift around from place to place, but I didn’t love this. Sure, there are moments or sections in Holy Motors that I enjoyed, specifically the Beauty & the Beast section and it made me miss walking the streets of Paris, but as a whole, it just doesn’t work for me.
A couple of months ago, I felt like this film was going to be something that saved me or restored some faith in cinema. Holy Motors! A grand weird spectacle on par with the works of David Lynch! Something that would wash the sugary generic soda taste of Argo out of my mouth. I feel like I got more than what I wanted from Beyond The Black Rainbow and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2. Those two films gave me the weird and unique that I was so craving and best of all, entertainment!
At the point right now where I’m probably going to put Breaking Dawn Part 2 on my ten best list. There’s still a month to go and a lot of films. A lot of films, but I’m not sure if there’s going to be a film that tops the last 30 minutes of Breaking Dawn.
